Believe it or not, many businesses still use fax machines ? - Five ...

Business Trends

Digital and electronic communications dominate today's business world. Considering these technologies' influence, it would seem like a throwback to the Dark Ages to hear the screeching crunch of a fax machine being used in the office. However, the old way of communicating is still very much alive and well in business.

In a survey by GFISoftware that included 1,008 U.S. office workers in firms ranging from 10 to 500 employees, 85 percent of respondents reported using fax machines in their business. Fifty-four percent said faxing was an integral part to daily workflow processes for customer, interdepartmental and vendor communications.

The poll also found 72 percent of businesses still use traditional paper faxing methods, and just 44 percent said email ? the most popular avenue of communication by an overwhelming margin is ? safer than faxing.

The surprisingly high percentage of fax-users can be somewhat explained by the 29 percent of businesses that use faxing because they are required to do so by business partners. Almost one-quarter (24 percent) of respondents fax because of governmental and industry regulations.

However, small businesses that still utilize fax ? not because they are required to, but because of equipment limitations ? should consult with Five Point Capital about its range of equipment loans and leasing options.
