Posted by Joe RiceAfter Alistair Overeem dismantled former UFC champion Brock Lesnar in a matter of minutes at UFC 141 the MMA world?s attention turned to a future date between the Dutchman and divisional title-holder Junior dos Santos. While nothing specific has been mentioned in relation to when the bout will occur it appears fans now at least have a general idea of when one of the most anticipated heavyweight tilts in the sport?s history will take place.
According to UFC President Dana White, per this week?s episode of UFC Tonight on Fuel TV, the organization is looking at putting the two battle-tested behemoths in the Octagon together come summertime.
?Alistair wants to take some time off,? White explained of the upcoming match-up before adding, ?Dos Santos is ready but needs to get some training in?so hopefully this summer.?
Dos Santos is in the latter stages of recovering from a knee injury and has stated he expects to be training again in about a week. Meanwhile, though Overeem certainly escaped the Lesnar fight without any major injuries he is in the midst of dealing with a handful of personal issues including an ill mother and pending litigation from former camp Golden Glory.

MMATraining Take: I?m calling it now. Assuming both men stay healthy and Overeem?s drug tests come back clean I see JDS-Overeem serving as a co-headliner in Brazil alongside Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II. The stars are lining up right for the bouts to take place, filling a soccer stadium in the process, and the UFC can?t pass on an opportunity that golden.
