Samsung Galaxy S3 now certified for Enterprise usage

Samsung has unveiled a variant of the Galaxy S3 model which it hopes will satisfy the needs of US business smartphone users at least in the US.

The so called SAFE Galaxy S3 (Samsung Approved for Enterprise) will come to Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular from next month with more handsets powered by Gingerbread of Ice Cream Sandwich expected to carry that Samsung-only seal of approval soon.

Samsung's marketing lingo says that the new S3 will support "a full suite of enterprise-ready features and capabilities with support for 338 IT Policies. This includes on-device AES-256 bit encryption, enhanced support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and support for industry-leading Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions."

The phone will still have the cameras, removable storage and wireless connectivity options though as Samsung confirmed that it will not feature any changed to the overall architecture.

So it seems that the main differences are mostly at the software level which doesn't preclude other non Samsung models from coming up with a similar scheme.
